Cartier, Tiffany-Style Ring

2 Feb

diamond.jpgLots of jewelry shops offer “Tiffany-style” rings or “Cartier-style” rings.

The thing about this is that:
a. They are NOT Tiffany & Co or Cartier rings if they are being sold by another jewelry store
b. You won’t be fooling anyone with a “styled” ring
c. trademark and patent laws ensure that no other jewelry stores will be able to see a ring that looks “that much” like a Tiffany & Co/Cartier ring
d. Brands such as Tiffany, Cartier, Louis Vuitton and the like have been cracking down on counterfeiters and have been prosecuting

That doesn’t matter, you still want a ring that LOOKS like Tiffany & Co. or Cartier even if it isn’t.

The trick is to go to a jeweler who CUSTOM DESIGNS the ring. Sure you have to wait a bit longer, but you could go to Tiffany or Cartier and get the measurements/figures you want (i.e. carat weight, stone clarity, color, cut). Then make sure to go to their website to get a copy of the ring you want — multiple angles would be best.

If you need help figuring out how to get a copy of a ring, email me or check with anyone who has some Photoshop experience.

Take your figures and your photos and visit said custom designer (if you stray too far from their figures, it’ll be blatently obvious that its not real).

They can’t do an *exact* copy, but many get so darned close, you wouldn’t know the difference.

I am not one to follow this path, but I know there are many, many people who want the style without the pricetag.
